Hi,

I think it has been requested but as Draftsight has become really powerful app this could be really be great improvement. Currently layer manager is separate property window, it's not possible to draw while it's on. When working with lots of layers it requires to turn on and off layer manager and that slows down workflow a lot. If layer manager is made as dockable sidebar it will allow:
- select objects inside specific layer or multiple layers by using right-click submenu
- quickly turn layers on and off, multiple at once and get result instantly
- copy/move selected objects to layer(s)
- quickly assign colors, linewights and other properties
- draw while manager is on, use extra space on big screens

Very similar feature is available in such apps as:
- acad (above 2012)
- qcad
- librecad
- rhinoceros

Even non-cad apps has such ability:
- blender
- 3dsmax
- photoshop
- illustrator
- gimp
- inkscape
