Hi All,
I am having trouble using the inbuilt png/jpg printing option in draftsight (currently using latest version, but had same trouble on old versions).
What I need to do is print a jpg or png of a drawing, at a particular size (i.e as pixels), including the whole drawing.
The way that I am trying to do it is thus:
1) create a sheet with a print configuration using the png printer, and with sheet size the size of the output I want
2) make a viewport to fit the sheet size
3) zoom fit within the viewport so that I can see the whole drawing
4) try to print - this is where it gets troublesome....
I dont need to print these drawings at a particular scale - the requirement is that it is scaled so that I can see the whole drawing within the allocated space. However, depending on the DPI setting in the "Advanced Options" dialogue for the jpg/png printer, even if the print setting is set to "scale to fit", and the area is "sheet", I will see either a small section, a zoomed section, or nothing at all of the drawing.
Changing the scale to a standard one or changing the DPI setting will vary the amount of drawing I can see.
To further complicate the issue - the print preview will literally change the amount of drawing you can view in it, depending on the zoom level.
The behaviour is somewhat as though there is some kind of circular referencing going on with respect to the plot scale. Sometimes, if you look carefully in the print preview window, you can see the drawing change scale and disappear in the first few milliseconds after hitting the preview button.
Does anyone out there have a good solution for printing to png?
***EDIT***
I just noticed that the print preview window says the size of the image is defined in mm, whereas the 'paper size' in the dialogue is in pixels. This might explain some of the inconsistent output between the preview and the actual file...
