Trying to print pdf and it is very frustrating.

After first two tries DS crashed.

I have a sheet set up for 22"x34" and trying to plot 1:1 scale.  (viewport is scaled for 1/4" = 1'-0")

Each time I go to print the settings revert to metric.  My drawing appears as a small image in the lower left corner.  After adjusting all settings, scale, print config., print style,page size I get a preview of what seems to be the correct plot.  

click print and the pdf is only 8.5x11 and only the upper left corner of the page.  Is it really that impossible to print to pdf?  

I have the mac version.  macbook pro 4gb, os x 10.7.5
