Hi Everyone,
This problem may be user error – I don’t know all the nuances of DraftSight’s settings. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
DraftSight 2016 and 2017 Pro (separate clean installs, not at the same time) running on Dell with Pentium Dual-Core CPU E6700 @ 3.20GHZ, 4.0GB RAM, Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset with graphics, Windows 10 (64).
The user cannot select entities by clicking on them or using one of the selection boxes, nothing is selected. But, using CTRL-A will select all of the entities and they can be edited.
This only occurs on OPENED drawings that are opened from a storage device (hard drive or USB drive). A NEW drawing can be edited normally. But, if it is saved and closed and then reopened, the entities in it cannot be selected except by CTRL-A. These same files can be opened and edited normally in DraftSight on two other PC’s in our office – the files are normal.
All layers Thawed, Showing, Unlocked.
All other programs run normally on this computer, no graphics problems at all.
Have Tried:
– Completely uninstalled DraftSight, deleting all residual files, running Ccleaner, and restarting the PC.
Then reinstalled DraftSight.
During install(s) got the error message: “Driver Incompatibility. The video card driver is out-dated and can cause display and stability problems. Please update the Driver. Ignore or Abort” The message was “ignored” to complete the install(s). This seems to be a major clue – except that selection works fine on a new drawing, before saving, closing, and reopening it. The display driver is the latest available for the hardware. Why would the display driver be okay before the save not okay after the save?
– Display driver is the latest for the hardware.
– Updated Windows 10 (64), mouse driver, monitor driver.
– Running as Administrator, running in compatibility mode: Windows 8 and Windows 7.
-- Rebuild doesn't help.
– 2 different mice with updated drivers.
Have not yet sacrificed a banana to the Great Monkey – but I’m getting ready to.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this.
