offset bug

I used AutoCAD 5.2 through 14, then switched to DS.  There is one feature, quite annoying, in both programs that apparently has never been fixed.  Both programs are mostly based on a standardized repetitive mode that enhances productivity.  That is, each command is followed by action.  Each action is followed by command.  Soon you get into a rapid mode blazing through your project without having to stop and think:  command action command action command action...  Offset throws a monkey wrench into the otherwise efficient system.  Offset is command action action action.  If you follow the command action with another command, your drawing is screwed up.  In my case I'm often several steps down the road on autopilot before I realize the SNAFU.  Now with Draftsight they've done the same thing with the infinite line command.  I realize that some users may find those inconsistencies useful for their specific needs, and if so good for them.  The same logic could apply if some specific users would find useful, for example, the circle command to be programmed the same way if they draw a lot of circles.  Since it hasn't been fixed in the past 30 years, I'm now wondering if I am missing some preference setting that would make the commands consistent?  I've looked and cannot find such.
