Object Linking and Embedding - maybe I'm just spoiled

I'm coming from using AutoCad 2002 and Microsoft Office so maybe I'm just too used to having it easy.  I'm now trying to use Draftsight ('cause it's Free) and LibreOffice ('cause it's free) and I'm having nothing but problems.

I use cutting and pasting from MS Office Word and Excel EXTENSIVELY in creating my drawings. What I'm used to is having AutoCad 2002 open along with Word and Excel all at once and as I'm creating my drawing I'm flipping to either Word or Excel, highlighting a portion of the document, press "Control-C" and then flipping back to Autocad 2002 and pressing "Control-V" and VOLA!!! There is just the section I copied from either Word or Excel pasted on my drawing looking just like a piece of paper comprising of just the area of the document I copied it from along with a window that pops up that allows me to set the size I want the pasting to be and the quality I want it to be printed at (usually photo) along with "use application to print" which I have selected. It ends up being sized the way I want, the print quality is the way I want and there isn't any border to it that I have to contend with. AND AND, I can then right click on the pasting and click off "Selectable" so I don't inadvertantly select it while I'm working on the Cad drawing.  To top it all off, if I do have the embedded pasting "Selectable" I can double click on it and it will open in the corresponding Word or Excel program, let me make changes then close it and have the updates made to the OLE in my drawing.

My last 3 hours dealing with Draftsight cutting and pasting has been the proverbial pain in the @\\\$\\\$. Straight attempts at cutting and pasting from LibreOffice to draftsight end up being unformated text scrawled along my drawing to the overal length of each sentance.  My attempts at inserting Objects from the insert menu end up be icons that print as icons even though "show as Icon is NOT selected".  I've tried specially formating my LibreOffice write document to export as a PDF at the right size and then attempt to insert it into the drawing by finding the exported file in the directory I saved it into and then try to insert it as an "existing Adobe Acrobat file".  That attempt shows up being blank with grips that can be sized up and down but once the it's been deselected I can't even find it on my drawing.

Do I just have to be smarter to use Draftsight with LibreOffice? Do I have to be a programmer to use Draftsight with LibreOffice???  I've even tried looking up instructions on how to do this in help and it just doesn't seem to be either explained very well or the results I'm getting do not match the expected outcome.

I just want it to be easy like the way I'm used to. Is it possible???
