I am having trouble with managing xrefs.

I want to attach a base floor plan to show at 1/8 scale and the same plan for 1/4 scale.

In Autocad, I bring them in and give them different names though they are the same file. That way I can control which layers are displayed in each view. I have searched all resources and cannot find how to do this. Thanks
