major problems with draftsight.....

hello all,

my supervisor (head of the design/engineering department) is throwing talk around about switching back to autocad lt. i personally like draftsight and didn't see why he would want to switch. but then i went and talked to him.

his draftsight is so jacked up on his computer its pretty much un-useable even to simply view a drawing.

here's a couple of the issues i noticed right off the bat:

1. there is a yellow target sight looking thing in the middle of the screen that never goes away. (not major, just annoying)

2. the problem with lines disappearing (which occurs on my machine as well) is 10X worse on his computer than i have ever seen before. alot of the lines that disappear never come back until you close and reopen the drawing.

3. his ESnaps do not work at all. cannot snap to anything. cursor starts getting all flashy and glitchy looking whenever it should be snapping. but to simplify, the cursor disappears when attempting to snap, and you NEVER get the click where its supposed to be.

4. about 65% of the drawings he opens open as a blank black screen.

we have re-downloaded and re-installed dozens of times, tried different versions, tried different graphics and video drivers, even turned the install over to our IT department and we could not get it to work on his machine. we currently have draftsight (free version) on roughly 8 other machines in our department and all work perfectly fine.

wondering if anyone has heard of or experienced problems like this. and/or have any ideas as to what could possibly be the problem.

thanks in advance
