This week I have run into an odd problem which has arised all of a sudden: when pressing the Layer Manager icon (or typing LAYER in the command window), the Layer Manager dialogue box does not open at all! Instead the system stalls and the only way to resume work is to press the Escape button.

I find this quite disturbing and hope to get hint saying how to resolve this - thanks :)
