Hi folks I am new to DraftSight and am having major problems with what should be simple tasks. I have been using AutoCAD freestyle for the past year and have opened a previously created DWG file in Draftsight.
I have created a new .DWG file in Draftsight and first set it up properly with my desired scale and untis. Because my original drawing has several components and entities I wish to break these down into a few separate new drawings within Draftsight. For all intents and purposes let's say I have created three separate household doors on my orginal AutoCAD drawing I will call Drawing A. They are not blocks. Each door is comprised of 100 parts or 100 lines or entities or whatever..
I want to now copy all of Door A to the new Draftsight Drawing 1, Door B to new Draftsight Drawing 2, and Door C to new Draftsight Drawing 3. I need to separate all these out because I am actually needing to create several separated cut files that are going to a CnC shop.
So far I have been able to hit Copy and then select the "Door" wirh the Blue Box / Window Select and hit enter.. it appears to register the 100+ entites of the Door in the Command Prompt. (in my orginal Drawing A)
However, when I move to the new Drawing 1, click any where on the graphic area and then select Edit / Paste from the main menu..nothing happens. I can't paste anything.
Unfortunately neither the Help utility nor the Draftsight Quickstart PDF, nor YouTube videos clearly explains many simple operations such as this. Turning to the forum seems to be the only solution for vaild help with many individual tasks such as this. I also don't want to sift through the few hour long youTube webinar videos just to try and find the 1 minute of video which may answer a single question like this. (and I have 100 others to ask just like this ;)
A definitive checklist would be most helpful. Please and Thanks!
