Error occuring during subsequent, frequent saves over a network causing file deletion

We recently upgraded our Windows XP workstations to Windows 7 x64 and also moved from AutoCAD 2000 to Draftsight. I have been testing Draftsight for about a year and a half on my old XP system alongside with AutoCAD and never came across any issues like this. Now that we have 8 users using Draftsight exclusively, this error was reported.

  1. I tried the same file on my local machine as well as 3 network drives (3 separate servers). On subsequent, frequent saves, Draftsight would give the error "error occured during the saving" and would delete the .dwg file and .bak file associated with it if the file was located on one of the network drives.
  2. I tried this with large .dwg files (approximately 30mb) and small .dwg files (approximately 500 kb), with the same result.
  3. Network save times for the large file were about 15 seconds, during this time Draftsight saves the file to a separate file, .dwg.tmp, then replaces the original .dwg file
  4. If another save is initiated before the original save process is completed, it seemed to give the error most of, if not all of the time.
  5. If I waited at least 10 seconds after the last save completed I didn’t receive any errors
  6. If I saved again immediately after the first save is completed, I would occasionally get the error.
  7. The above happens when the file was on the network, or on my "Desktop" folder, but not anywhere else on my local drive, including my "My Documents" folder.
  8. I was able to test this on a Windows XP system as well, with the same result.
  9. Because of the different behavior in certain drives and folders, I wonder if it is some sort of file permission issue when the temp file is created and replaces the working file.

Any help would be appreciated. Since the impact is critical, we will not be able to continue using this program if we don't find a solution.

Thanks,

Rob
