Recently, we upgraded a video driver for one of our DraftSight users. He's using a Dell Precision 4700 laptop with 8gb RAM and Intel Core i5. The OS is Win 7 Pro, latest SP. It's using the latest AMD FirePro video driver -- version 14.501.1003, having upgraded from 9.01.
The upgrade was necessary because video driver version 9.01 was contributing to system instability.
However, after the driver upgrade, DraftSight began to perform much more slowly. The user reports that zoom-ins and zoom-outs previously were "instantaneous" and smooth, whereas now, they lag and are herky-jerky. It's not unworkable, but the user experience is degraded significantly.
I already tried: Right-Click on My Computer --> Properties --> Advanced system settings --> Advanced Tab --> Settings button in Performance Box --> Adjust for best performance radio button. This had no effect on DraftSight.
Is the degraded performance purely the fault of the video driver? And, if so, are there any configurations of which anyone is aware that might optimize DraftSight's video performance? Any other tips or thoughts?
Thanks!
Alan
