I’m wondering how many persons are using Draftsight on a Mac, and if so what is their experience?  I’m finding the basic software is outstanding, based on the best features of AutoCAD before AutoCAD became “modern,” and the fact it is free is amazing.  However the Mac version is still in beta form and documentation is sparse.  When strange things happen (or don’t happen) there seems to be no way to know if it is a software bug, a system problem, or simply a user error.  One big hurdle is print configuration failing to appear - that I have mentioned in previous posts.  That seems to be either a system or a software issue, and it’s actually gotten more complex to the point that I’ve found one trick that will crash the program without fail while attempting to create a print configuration from within the print menu.  Another problem that may or may not relate to print configuration is applying dimensions to a scaled view in sheet mode.  It is possible to get them correct by tweaking individual entries in the properties toolbar, but there must be a better way.  Formatting a dimension style can sometimes work but I’ve found that when it does work some dimensions stay correct and some revert to a different style.  Also the only scale option on the properties toolbar drop down scale list is 1:1, not the full spectrum of 1/8” = 1’ and similar so the user must manually enter and actual number.  That would not be a problem but entering 1/96 (for 1/8” = 1’) gets rounded to 0.01.  When 0.0104 is entered, that too gets rounded.  The dimension formatting may very well be my lack of knowledge (I’ve never done that with AutoCAD) but Draftsight’s Getting Started, Training, and AEC guides don’t cover that well.  And the Youtube stuff sometimes doesn’t work on the Mac as shown in the demo.  Of course I’ve tried the erase and reload Draftsight a number of times with no improvement.  I’m using osX 10.6, 64 bit version.

So my questions are these:  Are other Mac users having these same problems?  And if so, is anyone aware of Draftsight working on the issues?  And if not, which version of osX is working correctly with Draftsight?
