I have recently been struggling with Draftsight hanging when opening most files, especially DXF (R12 ASCII).  Every DXF file I attempt to open ( 30+) causes Draftsight to freeze.  This started about 2 weeks ago, when running 2015 SP2.  (X64).  I have since updated to Draftsight 2016 SP2, x64 with no improvement. Most dwg files open fine but I have located at least 3 that also cause a freeze.

To make matters more interesting, if I allow enough time, ~20 minutes, Draftsight will eventually open the file.  20 minutes is not an exaggeration;  I timed one and it took 17m5sec. These files are not large.  The DXF files generally being between 20 and 40 kilobytes (KB) in size with the few dwg files that are a problem being less than 1 MB in size.  I have other, much larger, dwg files that open in a matter of seconds.

To take the issue yet another step forward, once I wait the 17 to 20 minutes for the first file to open, all other dxf files open fine, so long as I don't close Draftsight....  It makes no sense!

I have been able to open every offending file by using AutoDesk products, in an appropriate amount of time, without any errors or indication of any issues, including using A360 online.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
