DraftSight Crashing issue and Huge amount of crash report generation

Software Version: DraftSight 2024 SP2.0

Detailed Problem statement:

  • We have been facing DraftSight crashing issues since last couple of months. Initially, we were suggested to format Windows in the system due to some problems with our Windows files. Hence we formatted the Windows and reinstalled the Windows. After that everything was working fine.
  • After a month, we again started facing the crashing issue. This time the Profile data was reset by renaming/ deleting the DraftSight folder from "C:> Users > User > AppData > Roaming". After that again everything was working fine.
  • This issue was repeated again for another two months with average time DraftSight working fine for 3-4 weeks.
  • Until last month, when the same issue was faced again, the data in the folder was analyzed to obtain the crash reports due to recurring issue.
  • It was found that there was a Crash Log folder whose memory was approximately 11GB. Hence we deleted the folder and all the renamed previous folders to have the software started.

Summarized Questions:

  1. Why does software crashes so many times even on after resetting the profile?
  2. Why does software generates this much huge amounts of data in crash reports which is more than even the software itself?
