DraftSight asks for admin pw before starting

I am trying to install DraftSight (DS) on a new win 11 pc.   It seemed to install, no problem, sn activated.  But when we try to start it it runs an .msi file, asking for admin permissions, then it runs DS, again asking for admin permissions. Thier tech support, who take a day and a half to reply, said this

After extensive testing, our development team has determined that this issue is not related to DraftSight. The root cause appears to be a Windows update problem. The issue can be mainly due to a broken or incomplete Windows update.

They said uninstalling  Windows 11 update KB5063878 will fix it, as well as uninstalling the following windows 11 updates

Version 24H2 (Build 26100.4946) – KB5063878

Version 23H2 (Build 22631.5768) – KB5063875

Version 23H2 (Build 22631.5771) – KB5066189

Version 23H2 (Build 22631.5840) – KB5064080

problem is, none of these are in the pc's update history list, or in the uninstall updates list.

I then ran SFC, restarted, same problem.

they the said try this

1.Log in as an administrator.

2. Refer to the following link, as it is a knowledge-based article addressing the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall

3. Click on ‘Download troubleshooter.’

4. Double-click on the downloaded file to run the troubleshooter.

5. Click on ‘Uninstall’ to resolve the issue related to uninstallation.

6. In the product selection, choose 'DraftSight' and follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation process. (if the Draftsight is not present in the list skip this option and close the fixit tool> proceed with next step i.e. 7)

7. Close all applications on your desktop.

8. Clear (delete all files) from the Temp folder (C:\\Users\\\\AppData\\Local\\Temp).

9. Restart your system.

10. Go to Start > Control Panel > User Account > User Account Control Settings. Set it to “Never Notify.”

11. Download the fresh installation files from the DraftSight website: 'www.draftsight.com/downloads.' 1

2. Extract the downloaded file 'DraftSight.exe' manually using 7-Zip or WinZip Extractor.

13. Open the extracted folder and find the file named ‘DraftSight.msi.’

14. Run the installation of this file. Run the installer as an administrator: Right-click on the installer and select "Run as administrator" to ensure that it has the necessary permissions to write to directories.

still same problem.

their last resort was to find the DS executable, create a shortcut to this file.

using this shortcut it no longer tries to run the .msi file but still asks for admin permissions before starting. It then runs with no problems.

I have been going back and forth with them for a week and this is as far as I have gotten.  Anyone out there have any idea as to how to fix this problem??

thank you for your help.
