I just recently un-installed and old AutoCad program, from cd, and downloaded DraftSight looking to replace our drafting system on our Windows 7 Professional machines.  I have opened and old AutoCad.dwg file without problems, but when I try to dimension either new or saved drawings I get, " caused and error and the program must shut down, you may try and save this drawing, etc,etc.

Whats UP?
