Three questions,

Every drawing I load becomes write protected. How does one shut this function off?

Entity selection is now one at a time as if you choose a second piece of geometry, the first becomes un- highlighted. You can only deal with one at a time. 

Although the layer page is set to various line types one must actually draw a line on the drawing and use "Property's" to change its style to "By layer"  to obtain the type of line needed. 

These three things changed without warning and cannot find the toggle to reinstate to normal.
