I asked a similar question 4 years ago, and i once again have a need to address this.
I need to create a region with a hole through it. In AutoCAD, you might do this by drawing two rectangles (one inside the other), then using the REGION and SUBTRACT commands to turn that into a region with a hole through it.
Since DraftSight does not have a SUBTRACT command, this method is not possible.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out a way around this. I tried creating two rectangles, then hatching the area between them (which works fine, of course) - but it doesn't appear that i can make a region from that hatch.
I also tried using the AREABOUNDARY command, but that will not allow me to select a hatch as the target - it just keeps saying Boundary was not found. Also, not surprisingly, the same command does not work with the nested rectangles directly. Instead of creating a region with a hole through it, it just creates two regions. Again, since there is no SUBTRACT command, this is not helpful.
Am i missing something, or are we still in a position where it is not possible to create regions with holes through them via DraftSight?
