I cannot figure out how to copy an element to a different layer.  When I copy the element, change the active layer and paste, it appears to show up and the properties show the new layer as its layer, but if I make the layer from which it came invisible, the element in the new layer also ceases to be visible.  Is there a different way I should do this?
