I'm not able to copy and/or to move an entity into a layer other than the native layer.

Well, problem solved.

It was because I was trying to copy a block in a different layer. If you select an entity (or multiple entities) and you change their layer in the properties palette, it works.

The problem now remains "how tro change the layer of a block" (see my unsolved question "inserting blocks").
