When I copy or mirror a selection of objects the new copy or mirrored copy of the objects change to the current active layer.

The original objects could be on several different layers, but in the new copy or mirrored copy all the objects are on the active layer, with all the active layer's characteristics; color, line weight, etc.

This only started to happen a few days go. Could I have unknowingly changed some system option?
