Does anyone know how to convert text to geometry?

I am sending parts to our cutting table and would like to label the parts.  When I import the text into the CAM program, however, no text entered (as either NOTE or SIMPLENOTE) is visible.  I am assuming that I need to convert any Text to Geometry but can't figure out how to do so.
