• CAM module covering at least Simultaneous 5-Axis Machining for complex part manufacturing such as blade manufacturing, for aerospace applications, 4-axis machining, turn-mill, turning, 2.5-Axis milling and drilling operations. All the following conditions shall be met by this advanced CAM module:
• The CAM software shall ensure milling any geometry with up to 5 axes of simultaneous motion as well as enable 2.5-Axis milling and drilling operations.
• The CAM software should be worked with CAD software in harmony but it shall also have some basic CAD features for ease of use. The CAM software should extract the edges and points of the supplied CAD model and these features should be stored and edited as a manufacturing sketch.
• The CAM software should be used for various machining operations such as turning, milling CAM module should both recognize the features of an externally supplied model (such as STL file) and sketches from CAM module.
• The CAM software should have a tool library and the users shall be able to add and recall tools from library.
• The CAM software shall perform in turning mode, 2-axis, 3-axis and 4-axis.:
1. Rough and finish turning
2. back turning, peck cycle drilling
3. boring, grooving, OD/ID threading
4. Cut off operation
5. bar feed operations
In milling mode:
1. Hole making
2. Face milling
3. 2.5D millin
4. 5-axis surface milling
5. swarfing
• The program shall have modules for machining complex turbo-machinery components such as blades, stators and impellers. The freeform surface machining quality shall be possible to be checked by the user such as the CAM software giving logs or generating reports.
• The program shall give the total estimated machining time for each operation.
• CAM software shall have program probing and measurement protocols in order to program prob measuring operations.
• CAM software shall be able to generate high speed machining techniques such as high feed milling, trochoidal milling, high speed machining, etc.
• CAM software shall be able to optimize the feed rate speeds in order to prevent excessive forces.
• CAM software shall be able to animate the material removal process and provides analysis tools for remaining material and undercutting.
• CAM software should have post processing and post builder which can be adjusted for a special manufacturing machine.
Which module meets the requirements listed above? Does NTA or NTX fulfil these requirements?
