Trouble Optimizing 5-Axis Toolpaths in DELMIA for Haas UMC-750 – Any Tips?

Hey all,

I’ve been running a few custom plastic fabrication jobs using DELMIA Fabrication for CAM programming, specifically targeting our Haas UMC-750. The machine itself is solid, but I’m running into a recurring issue when generating complex 5-axis toolpaths in DELMIA—particularly with undercuts and deep contours on plastic molds.

The simulation looks clean, but post-processing and real-world machining don’t always match up—tool orientation seems slightly off, and I occasionally get small collisions or over-travel warnings on the controller.

Anyone else running DELMIA with Haas machines? Would love to know:

  • What post-processor are you using?
  • Any tweaks needed for accurate multi-axis collision checks?
  • Tips for smoother surface finish on ABS or acrylic?

Appreciate any shared experiences or workflow advice!
