I’ve been running into a persistent issue when trying to transfer a component from a CATIA environment into a DELMIA cell, and it’s becoming a bit of a roadblock in my workflow. The part in question was originally designed and saved in SOLIDWORKS before I attempted to bring it over, but something seems to be going wrong during the transition. At first, I thought it might just be a simple compatibility quirk or a minor file corruption, but after several attempts—re-saving the part in different formats, double-checking the export settings, and even verifying the integrity of the original SOLIDWORKS file—I’m still hitting the same snag.
The process I’ve been following is fairly straightforward, or at least it should be: I export the part from SOLIDWORKS in a neutral format (like STEP or IGES, since those are typically the most universally supported), then try to import it into the CATIA cell where I’m working. From there, the goal is to seamlessly integrate it into the DELMIA simulation environment. But no matter how I adjust the settings or which file type I choose, the part either fails to import entirely, comes in with critical geometry missing, or—when it does make it through—behaves unpredictably in the DELMIA cell, like not aligning properly with the rest of the assembly or losing key features that were definitely present in the original SOLIDWORKS model.
I’ve also considered whether the issue might stem from version discrepancies—perhaps the SOLIDWORKS version I’m using isn’t fully compatible with the CATIA or DELMIA versions in play—but even after confirming that all software is up to date and cross-referencing supported file formats, the problem persists. Another thought was that there might be some hidden metadata or SOLIDWORKS-specific attributes embedded in the file that aren’t translating correctly, but I haven’t found a reliable way to strip those out without risking further corruption.
At this point, I’m not entirely sure where the breakdown is happening—whether it’s during the initial export from SOLIDWORKS, the import into CATIA, or the final hand-off to DELMIA. What’s especially frustrating is that I’ve successfully moved other parts between these systems before without issue, so it’s not a universal problem, just something specific to this particular component. If anyone has encountered a similar hiccup or has insights into troubleshooting this kind of cross-platform transfer—especially when SOLIDWORKS is part of the equation—I’d really appreciate some guidance. The last thing I want is to have to rebuild the part from scratch in CATIA just to get it into DELMIA, but I’m starting to wonder if that might end up being the most time-efficient solution in the long run.
