I am wanting to cut a custom shaped thread with a DCMT Insert, this can be referred too as Rope Threading. This would initially rough out by going to an X,Z position at the front of the part. Then feed at a specific rate in Z for a given RPM. Then repeat this tracing the final shape for finishing.
Is this possible in DELMIA? Using NTA, I have tried Thread Turning but this does not seem to be able to use a custom defined shape, I have also tried recess turning which can create the profile but it is cylindrical not helical.
Please see references of example gcode for FANUC that shows the principle along with a screenshot of the GCode backplot of an example toolpath, the example part to machine and a youtube reference made by another company that shows the process on the machine.
