After a series of grueling days, I returned to our community with a lot of memories and experience. We, the off-road e-vehicle development team YALEE, have competed in the Mega ATV Championship 2022, an off-road All Terrain Vehicle competition based on real life challenges organized by Autosports India held at Goa.
I was modelling the gearbox, casing for the gearbox, actuator, arms and knuckle for the rear wheels, and many other things in the Design and Analysis Module. We had a series of trouble fabricating the vehicle because we had to design and manufacture almost all of the parts from scratch. The knuckle and suspensions of the rear wheel were the biggest challenges we encountered during fabrication. In addition, we had lost our backup batteries in an accident. We overcame the challenges with the support and supervision of our mentor, as well as the other seniors and graduates, and participated in the event to some extent. We got into some complications with the drive shafts there, but the Technical Inspection, Static testing, Light test, and Brake test were all passed. We were unable to progress further and resolved the issue following the event in order to prepare for SAE e-Baja 2022. Unfortunately, after having resolved the concerns, we were unable to attend the event.
I learned not only how to design and produce the vehicle, but also how to handle emergencies by making quick and correct judgments, communicating with the team, handling with the circumstances, and so on. A lot of efforts and sleepless nights have resulted to the acquisition of knowledge that I could not obtain elsewhere.
A special thanks to SOLIDWORKS and CATIA for their products which helped us in design and ergonomics the entire vehicle.
