Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how to use CATIA V5 to calculate the 'Torsion Constant' of a non circular section without doing a simulation? If this isn't possible in V5 is it possible in a newer version?

The torsion constant, together with material properties and length, describes a bar's torsional stiffness.

I can find the second moment of area, calculate the polar moment of area but I can't see a way to find the 'Torsion Constant' without creating a FE simulation. I also can't use any formulas I have found to calculate the value manually as the shape is not a standard shape.

I thought that I might be able to use the 'Manage Section CatPart' command but I haven't been able to get this to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
