Occasionally, I do some personal projects in CATIA. Often these involve dimensional lumber (e.g. a 2x4 that isn't actually 2 inches x 4 inches 😅).
I've dipped my toes into the Steel and Equipment Layout app a little bit. That app leverages catalogs or libraries of profiles for steel and extrusions to quickly instantiate beams or other structural elements.
I imagine that, with the right set of profiles to represent common dimensional lumber sizes, that app could be used for projects made from wood as well.
Is this a reasonable use of this app, or is there an app better suited to this type of activity? Is there a library or catalog of dimensional lumber profiles available with another role?
For engagement: I added pics of the deck I built in my back yard last year (with regular "part design"). There are stairs on it now, but I don't have a picture handy.
