Inquiry Regarding CATIA V4 Support and Potential Development Options

Dear Dassault Systèmes Community,

My name is Junoh, and I currently reside in South Korea. I am reaching out regarding support for CATIA V4, even though I understand that it has been officially discontinued.

Since my previous workplaces, I have become accustomed to using CATIA V4 for the initial layout phase of design, particularly for defining fundamental surfaces. While I am also highly proficient in CATIA V5 and have actively utilized 3DEXPERIENCE (V6) in my recent job, I still find that CATIA V4 provides unique advantages in early-stage automotive layout design that newer versions cannot fully replace.

Recently, I left my job to start a new business, and in preparation for this, I have secured unused HP C8000 workstations to continue using CATIA V4. However, after contacting Dassault Systèmes' local partners in Korea, I was deeply disheartened to learn that purchasing or maintaining CATIA V4 is no longer possible.

Before making any further decisions, I would like to test the performance of CATIA V4 on HP C8000 using a demo version for HP-UX. Would it be possible to obtain any form of support for this?

Additionally, I understand that Dassault Systèmes provides developer support. Given that there are still a few engineers like myself who rely on CATIA V4, is there any possibility of making the source code available for development on x86 Linux? If so, this could allow dedicated users to continue using CATIA V4 in a more sustainable way.

Lastly, I would like to mention that I have been teaching CATIA V5 and V6 for many years at a leading automotive design academy in Korea. A significant number of automotive design engineers have been influenced by my teaching, and I have drawn substantial inspiration from CATIA V4 when introducing efficient methodologies for utilizing V6. I sincerely hope you will consider this background when reviewing the possibility of support.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to any guidance you can provide.

Best regards,
Junoh
