How to replicate CATIA V5 "Component" behavior in 3DEXPERIENCE for drawing views / configurations?

Hi everyone,

I am currently transitioning from CATIA V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE, and I'm trying to figure out the best methodology to replicate a specific workflow I used to rely on in V5's Assembly Design.

In CATIA V5: In the Assembly workbench, we could insert Components (non-structural containers) within the main Product. We used these components to group specific parts and sub-assemblies to represent a particular state or configuration.

When creating a Drawing (Drafting), we could simply select that specific Component to generate our views (Isometric, Front, Sections, etc.) representing that exact configuration.

  • Example structure in V5:
    • Top Product
      • Component 1 (Config 1: Part A + Part B in position X)
      • Component 2 (Config 2: Part A + Part B in position Y)

My question for 3DEXPERIENCE: What is the best practice or equivalent tool in 3DEXPERIENCE to achieve this?

Since the data model has changed (with Physical Products, Representations, and the removal of the classic "Component" as it existed in V5), should I be looking into Filter options, Engineering Configurations, Review Assemblies, or multiple Physical Products?

How do you manage this when you want to show different configurations of the same assembly in your 2D drawings?

Thanks in advance for your insights and advice!
