Drafting - What's the right way to add parentheses to "reference (ASME) /information (ISO)" dimensions

Parentheses are used to enclose reference (ASME) or information (ISO) dimensions.

Right now, I use the "text before" and "text after" fields to add each parenthesis, but it results in a fairly large gap between the dimension and the parenthesis. This also feels "clunky" because I'm just adding parentheses, not actually setting the dimension as a reference dimension.

Is there a better way to specify a reference dimension?

How can I get the parenthesis closer to the dimension?

Please let me know y'all's thoughts.

(Apparently there is a toggle in Semantic Tolerancing Advisor for reference dimensions, according to the user guide, but I don't think we're quite there yet as far as transitioning from 2D to 3D tolerancing, so I'd like to find a satisfactory method in 2D for now)
