I’m looking for insights on how to better manage ID naming within the Application Component Family in CATIA. Right now, I’m running into issues that lead to unnecessary reference duplication, and I’m wondering if anyone has found a workaround.

Issue 1: Renaming the TitlePart Column Creates New References

If I change the TitlePart column name (e.g., to fix a mistake or update a naming convention), the system treats it as a new entry, breaking the link to all previously generated parts. This results in thousands of new references being created, even though I just wanted to rename the column.

Has anyone found a way to rename the TitlePart column without losing the link to existing parts?

Issue 2: Onboarding Legacy Component Libraries Without Duplicates

I also have a large legacy component library that was managed outside of the Application Component Family. Ideally, I’d like to integrate these existing references into the system without creating duplicate parts.

Is there a way to import and manage legacy components within the Application Component Family while maintaining their existing references?

Has anyone else faced these challenges? Any workarounds, best practices?
