Hello,
Our organization currently has a CATIA V5 floating license which is managed by the Dassault Systemes License Server (DSLS) running on one of our servers. One user can open the software and temporarily consume the license and when they're finished another user can open the software and temporarily consume the license.
We are currently in the process of purchasing CATIA V6 licensing. I have been given quotes for CATIA V6 'shareable' (floating) licensing and 'named user' licensing. One would assume that the CATIA V6 shareable licenses would work the same as CATIA V5. But I have been advised by a Dassault sales rep that with CATIA V6, when a user opens the software, the floating license is tied to that user for 30 days due to the way the CATIA V6 database works.
How is that acceptable? What is the benefit of purchasing the shareable license (2x the cost of named user license) over the named user license? Could someone please confirm if this is accurate?
Thank you,
James
