| ENTRY Submission | CATIA BUILDINGS & INFRASTRUCTURE CONTEST

 

Dear Community,

In response to the call for entries for next iconic building or infrastructure "designed with passion" and the help of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and CATIA , I would like to enter a project which for a while has been in the making in my design studio (AECS).

The project is small scale but potentially with a big impact. Thinking – Building as a product!  

  • The offer/product. We are planning to offer to the market a new archetype the "EggPod” – habitable mobile pod that can be used in various contexts. 
  • It will offer a highly ergonomic “shelter” to live, work, and inspire. Or just to take a break from our busy habitats and find our zen.
  • We propose to utilise the unusual (for our built environments) form of an egg, which is one of nature’s most refined shapes providing unrivalled strength among other benefits. 
  • By employing the latest developments in additive manufacturing and advanced parametric design processes will make it viable to execute such structure and deliver in a cost-effective workflow, while synthesizing manufacturing process and design. 
  • Configurability! At the later stage, the product will be highly configurable driven by virtual twins, partly directly from the end user.

With this entry, I would like to showcase the use of the amazing tools that the 3DEXPERIENCEPlatform provides and gauge the feedback from this community and the broader Dassault Systèmes family before releasing it to the public. 

 

 

 

 

All the concept sketches have been done with NaturalSketch  and NaturalShape prior to progressing into Part Design and assebly for the solid modeling of the shell structure. The above shown used case constellation layout was conceived in xGen   which was also used for the shell geometry.  

 

 

Project is very multilayered and aimed to be adaptable to various contexts, which will require further development but also open a numerous opportunity to innovate along the way.

 

 

 

I would like to use this opportunity and invite any interested parties to take part in and join our efforts and help make the initiative a reality to please get in touch. Our ambition is to establish efficient structural strategies for the shell and simulate these along with physical prototyping. Then test manufacturing processes through virtual commissioning and offline robots programming accordingly.
