I want to document a best practice policy regarding when toavoid using a dot in the names of:

Part files
Assembly files
Drawing files
File paths (directories)
Configurations
Features
or anything else related to SolidWorks that is assigned a name

For file names, I am referring to an additional dot preceding thefile extension (for example: part.name.sldprt)

I would appreciate your comments regarding when using a dot in aname may cause problems. If the problem occurs only when using aPDM system, please specify the relevant PDM software.
