SW2009 SP1.0 Windows XP.
I've been working on a small home project involving a lot ofdimensional lumber. I have taken advantage of virtual components tokeep most of the parts in one file.
Suddenly, sometime between yesterday and today, all the virtualcomponents went missing. When I loaded the assembly, they were allgreyed out as if suppressed. If I tried to unsuppress a component,an error message appeared saying that it couldn't find the file. Itwas looking for these files in the 'swx5900/name_of_my_assembly'directory in my Temp directory, which seems a bit odd, since theyare supposed to be inside the assembly.
Looking through the various swxXXX directories, they were full ofcopies of the virtual components. I copied the files from theswxXXXX folder with the highest value for XXXX into the swx5900,and all was (mostly) well again.
I'm not sure what set it off, but hopefully this post will keepsomeone from having to remodel their entire assembly if it happensto him/her.
