I extruded a 36 x Ø 0.75 rod and threaded the whole thing with a profile swept cut

then i made a plane in the middle to extrude a Ø 0.75 cylinder along part of the rod to make it not have threads there.

The result is a crumpled piece of paper inside of a fancy spring..

so I suppose this is a tutorial for a crumpled paper in a spring

It looks like something that would happen in 3ds max when you test random modifiers you have no idea about
