Hi Everyone,
We have a prototype tool to assist with the visualisation and understanding of in-context relationships in parts and assemblies. This will be available via http://labs.solidworks.com/ once Solidworks 2011 is released, but we'd like as much feedback as possible, so I'm making it available here in advance. To access the functionality, simply save the two attached files to your local machine, and remove the .txt extension. To enable the tool, double-click 'showRefArrows.reg' file and start (or restart) Solidworks. To disable it, double-click the 'hideRefArrows.reg' file, and again (re)start Solidworks.
With the tool enabled, hovering the mouse cursor over an entry in the Feature Manager tree that has in-context relation will show graphically which other features in the tree are referenced by that feature. Expanding referenced nodes will show you the exact feature that's referenced.
Please have a play with this - we'd value as much feedback as possible as to whether you find this a useful tool, but more importantly, what you would like to see added to it to make it more useful.
Thanks!
Chris
PS I apologise that I will be on vacation until the end of the month, so will be unable to respond to questions until then.
