Sketch objects are one  of the most essential building blocks for designs in SOLIDWORKS Mechanical Conceptual. Sketch Objects are a bit different than geometry such as a rectangle which in traditional CAD software is simply a series of sketch line entitles. Sketch Objects group together entities that make a single object, which can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including going to 3D, or Boolean operations to create new objects.
