Some engineers reasonably argue that browser-based CAD systems (on the cloud) cannot compete against desktop systems. But is that actually true?
Browser-based CAD systems have been on the rise, especially for small project requirements. Since the entire CAD application is running inside a browser, there is no install needed and upgrades happen automatically on the cloud. Also, the user can use these CAD systems on multiple platforms and devices if they have access to a standard browser—from any location.
3DCreator from Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS is one such CAD system that runs in a browser. Is the gap closing between what is possible on a desktop versus in a browser?
