The SOLIDWORKS® team is excited to announce the upcoming release of our browser-based and cloud-connected SOLIDWORKS roles. The R2024x GA release, which came out on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, features significant enhancements to help you simplify workflows and improve productivity.

This new release brings significant improvements to the SOLIDWORKS roles in the 3DEXPERIENCE® Works portfolio. Below is just a small selection of the most notable enhancements.

SOLIDWORKS Browser-based Roles

• 3D Creator: Achieve greater control when managing the visibility of items in the product hierarchy. Quickly assess the status of components in an assembly with the Session Information panel. Leverage the AI-driven sketch helper to create fully defined sketches and eliminate repetitive sketching. Export lattice geometry to STL & 3MF format to prepare your optimized parts for 3D printing. Export to STL & 3MF format with improved resolution control for precise 3D Printing. Maintain an organized product structure with the ability to import a STEP file as a single multibody part, and more.
• 3D Sculptor: Streamline design with the ability to extrude and revolve primitives, creating a better starting subdivision shape. Create complex freeform geometry with the ability to merge two subdivision surfaces.
• 3D SheetMetal Creator: Rapidly create multiple jogged bends as a single feature. Capture your design intent and efficiently drive the creation of multiple jogged bends with one sketch.
• 3D Mold Creator: Achieve greater control and flexibility when managing the visibility of items in the product hierarchy. Quickly assess the status of components in an assembly with the Session Information panel.
• Manufacturing Definition Creator: Define key manufacturing workflows with intuitive 2D authoring capabilities. Rapidly create standard drawing views with projection view capabilities. Ensure accurate cross-highlighting with multi-reference annotations. Work faster with increased performance when creating, and editing BOM tables.

SOLIDWORKS Cloud-connected Roles

• 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Premium, Professional, and Standard: Collaborate with suppliers who use older versions of SOLIDWORKS by saving your SOLIDWORKS designs as older versions. Simplify your large assemblies faster by applying rules when you Defeature your model using the Silhouette option. Speed up sketching with a new option to preview and edit a dimension as soon as you select one or more entities.  Clean up dangling dimensions more efficiently by reattaching them to the proper reference points, and more.
• 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Premium, Professional, and Standard, and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS: Improve your ability to work collaboratively with downstream applications with the new configuration manager optimized for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Experience faster save times for large assemblies as any non-modified references are not included in the information exchanged with the server. Easily add files to bookmarks right from within SOLIDWORKS. Conveniently and accurately view drawings through 3DPlay. Experience easier optimization and more advanced real-life rendering capabilities including new manipulator for greater clarity and efficiency, advanced light controls with new sunlight animation wizard, and more.
• 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Premium, Professional, and Mechanical:   Quickly and easily move through standard views with the new View Navigator. Find all your frequently used commands and features in the new Tool Palettes. Exercise greater layer control with the Layer Palette for all your layer commands in one place. Quickly measure areas, distances, angles, and more, with a single MEASUREGEOM command. Save time exporting all visible entities from an active sheet viewport to a new drawing with EXPORTSHEET.
• Electrical Schematic Designer: Find new content faster on the Electrical Content Portal (ECP) using 6W Tags now available from within the role task pane. Streamline control panel (cabinet) documentation using Autoballoon functionality as in SOLIDWORKS drawings. Simplify embedded, linked reports with automated delimiter ("...") insertion for a range of marks for the same component (for example, X1…X7 instead of listing all 7).
• 3D Motion Creator: Understand intuitively loads acting in your mechanical system through 3D visualization of forces and torques acting in Machine Elements and Joints during preview and result animation. Reduce time to set up and analyze complex system models through hierarchical motion models utilizing assembly of mechanisms. Increase process robustness and avoid errors during model build by using verified submechanisms from sub-product instances in complete system model definition. Support reaching a zero-defect prototype by identifying interferences between components during motion simulation along the complete design process with the new Interference Probe command.
