The SOLIDWORKS® team is excited to announce the upcoming release of our browser-based and cloud-connected SOLIDWORKS roles. The R2023x FD02 release, which came out on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, features significant enhancements helping customers to simplify workflows and improve productivity.

SOLIDWORKS provides industry-leading, collaborative, and secure design and engineering solutions with flexible deployment options: browser-based and cloud-connected.

This new release brings significant improvements to the SOLIDWORKS roles in the 3DEXPERIENCE® Works portfolio. Below is just a small selection of the most notable enhancements.

SOLIDWORKS Browser-based Roles

• 3D Creator: Access your solution from a single place, the new centralized default dashboard, regardless of how many roles have been assigned. Design your product in the context of a more realistic, lifelike experience with your own HomeByMe designs. Verify your internet connection with system status to ensure the best possible design experience. Work concurrently on designs and never lose your work with the new selective save functionality. Instantly identify what components are locked by who, and easily send requests directly to them. Easily modify and adjust sketch patterns. Quickly capture measurements with additional options for hide/show.
• 3D Sculptor: Create more complex organic shapes by precisely controlling the portion of the geometry subject to Bend and Flex manipulations. Use the Reflect command to mirror a subdivision body. Create a new body or reflect the existing body to a new position. Align points based on the first two selections. Retain the selection after applying the Crease command. Use copy and paste to place a copy of a subdivision body with the ability to snap the centroid to a point.
• 3D SheetMetal Creator: New workflows reduce screen clutter for small devices, and enable a more intuitive experience for creating complex sheet metal features. Streamline the creation of custom non-rectangular walls and flanges with new mini-dialogs and workflows.
• 3D Structure Creator: Quickly place end caps or plates on multiple structure members without selecting each individually with the enhanced Design Assistant’s AI capabilities.
• Manufacturing Definition Creator: Define manufacturing information for internal component geometry with 3D section views. Comply with industry-standard ASME and ISO requirements for radius and diameter dimensions using the new bent leader customization. Communicate 3D annotations using the industry-supported Step 242 format for model-based engineering workflows.

SOLIDWORKS Cloud-connected Roles

• 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS Premium, Professional, and Standard, and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS: Ensure data uniqueness on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for the entire enterprise with the option to block save if a duplicate is found. Add a revision comment individually to the items directly from the Save Dialog box. Delete data in standard libraries like Part Supply and Toolbox once imported to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Gain more insight into your Batch Save processes with a more detailed and precise process status dialog. Spend more time designing by continuing to work while Batch Save to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is performed asynchronously. Sort on multi-level complex assemblies and quickly catch errors, warnings or modified data by filtering in the nested view from the Save Dialog. Get onboarded faster with access to all the relevant resources in one place, the new Onboarding Dashboard, now available in Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS.
• 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Mechanical: Customize your bill of materials (BOMs) to list and display any custom property to meet your company's specific requirements. Create custom component properties for Part References, BOMs, Parts Lists, and Balloons. Choose component properties among any company-specific properties (unit, standard, NC number, order number, part number, revision number for PDM, ERP, etc.)
• Electrical Schematic Designer: Streamline the workflow for managing and using electrical content in your designs on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Browse the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for electrical content and insert it into your electrical designs using the same toolbar. Access Offline Mode now without closing the current electrical project. Connect directly to CATIA 3D Electrical roles to generate wiring for electrotechnical applications.
• 3D Motion Creator: Gain a deeper understanding of the rigid body motion behavior with improved 3D visualization of applied loads and driver velocities in preview and result animation. Analyze more quickly the results of your motion simulation model thanks to 2D plot improvements. Define functions with data points faster with simplified copy and paste from and to external programs. Generate detailed behavior assessments of your motion system through kinematic measurement probes between two points. Better understand system loads and assess system actuator requirements by force and torque probes on joint and driver elements.
