If you're asking yourself this question right after updating to R2024x FD01, please read on.
After a thorough assessment of our current geometry idealization app offering, R&D decided to create two new apps succeeding CATIA Simulation Model Preparation (SMP):
Why so? Simulation Model Preparation had two main shortcomings:
- Functional Gaps: Missing commands preventing users from completing key geometry idealization tasks
- User Experience: Frequent app switching to other CATIA apps due to missing commands in SMP on the one side, duplicated commands in SMP and other CATIA apps on the other side.
With R2024x FD01 these shortcomings have been addressed by adding additional commands to CATIA Simulation Model Preparation as follows:
Geometry Idealization Essentials
For roles AMF, FGM, FMK, SBE and SSU, 15 new commands not previously available have been added to Geometry Idealization Essentials:
Geometry Idealization
For roles BSO, EML, SNE, SYE and OPZ, five new commands not previously available have been added and 47 commands from Part Design Essentials, Generative Wireframe &Surface and Natural Shape are now directly accessible in Geometry Idealization:
As you can see, both new apps represent a significant upgrade to its predecessor; a lot of functionality has been added, no functionality has been removed. These changes improve usability and efficiency for geometry idealization in various simulation domains.
