RUM2021 RUM2021-EuroCentral CustomerPresentation CST Studio Suite Transportation&Mobility
Abstract:
It is known that particular materials result in signal attenuation when present in front of a radar sensor, leading to its performance degradation identified as blockage.
To further investigate this, a water layer simulation was done in CST Studio Suite. The simulation revealed that a water layer with a thickness of 1 mm can cause approximately 32 dB of signal attenuation.
This simulation significantly supported the development of our blockage algorithm.

Milan Kvicera received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in radioelectronics from the Czech Technical University in Prague in 2008 and 2012, respectively, and continued there as a postdoc and senior researcher dealing with radiowave propagation topics within ESA projects. In 2017, he joined Valeo as a radar system engineer and has a dual role as a technical project manager since 2020. His main focus is on radar pre-processing, integration into vehicles and EM simulations."
