Two traveling waves meet in the middle. In one case, both waves are up. In the other case, one wave is up and one wave is down. The red node is in the middle. The dynamic simulation is in Abaqus/Standard. It uses the moderate dissipation integration scheme. The structure is composed of point-inertias elements joined together with axial connector elements with nonlinear stiffness and linear damping.
