University of Florence | Finite Element Modeling for Structural and Clinical Assessment of Guided Bone Regeneration in Oral Surgery | EuroMed Conf 2026

Abstract

This work presents a finite element framework developed within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to support the structural and clinical evaluation of guided bone regeneration (GBR) strategies. A parametric model was implemented to reproduce anatomically relevant bone defects and associated biomaterial configurations, enabling the systematic investigation of different grid designs used in GBR procedures.
The modeling workflow integrates patient-inspired geometries with customizable lattice structures, allowing variations in mesh topology, thickness, material properties, and spatial conformation.
This approach represents a step toward predictive and patient-specific oral surgery simulation, offering a valuable tool for optimizing GBR device design and improving treatment outcomes.
