The SIMULIA UK team has just held a Introduction to Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) Solutions seminar using Abaqus, at the DS UK headquarters in Coventry, taught by our FSI specialist Bhushan Thakar and SIMULIA UK Senior Technical Specialist Stephen King.

With 40 attendees from both industry and academia, the diversity in the FSI domain was really visible. It seems clear that more and more traditional analysts are introducing a fluids component to their modeling to help them deliver better results. The operation of many products involves the complex interaction of a fluid with structural components. This application applies across all industries including consumer electronics, medical devices and civil engineering structures. In such cases a truly predictive simulation capability must adopt a multiphysics approach that considers both the structure and the fluid as well as the coupling between the two domains
