The 30th SIMULIA UK Regional User Meeting

On the 18th October, over 140 customers across the UK met, once again, at the Park Royal Hotel, Cheshire for the 30th SIMULIA Regional User Meeting.(Happy Anniversary to us!)

1509983552564

The day was opened by the SIMULIA CEO Scott Berkey who delivered his executive remarks. These were Closely followed by our first keynote speaker; Juho Könnö - Wärtsilä Corporation, Manager, Digital Design Platform who delivered “Securing product performance with requirements based validation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform”. We then welcomed Karl Kueres, who presented Delivering Sustainable Innovation with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

After this fantastic plenary session, the conference split into parallel sessions. There was a dedicated Technical stream, designed specifically for SIMULIA users to give attendees more opportunities to learn from our specialists.

Attendees were able to attend:

  1. Topology Optimization using Tosca for Abaqusands-on Linear Dynamics with Abaqus: Effective Solution of Structural Vibration Problems
  2. Abaqus/CAE and Solvers
  3. “Tune it all out” – Fundamentals of CST 3D EM modeling for EMC

We were also joined by our CATIA colleagues who delivered “Integrating simulation with design using CATIA” including presentations on; Conceptual Body Engineering with SFE, Mechatronics & Model-Based Systems Engineering and Topology Optimisation with Functional Generative Design

These parallel sessions ran alongside the SIMULIA Strategy Stream where attendees to this session were able to discuss how new technologies provide opportunities to drive process change in the deployment of simulation and the resulting business benefits.

This day concluded with our traditional conference banquet where 120 customers and staff had a fantastic night of food, wine and another fantastic after dinner game… wacky races anyone? (Take a look at works of art.. cars!)

The 19th October, the second day of our meeting got off to an exciting start with 2 keynote speakers:; Ed Green – Rolls-Royce Technical Specialist – Finite Element Analysis who presented “The Past, Present and Future of Finite Element Analysis” and Bill Austen – QinetiQ, Team Leader, Structural Analysis, who delivered “Drone Strike: Simulating mid-air collisions.”

Next were the Customer paper sessions, which are an integral part of the Regional User Meetings and we love to see how you are using SIMULIA products. We were delighted to welcome 16 customer papers this year, for the full list of papers and downloads see below.

The SIMULIA technical team also presented 3 presentations; Abaqus Solvers, Simpack Developments and Expanding the Scope of Simulation with Standalone Products.

The conference concluded with a Q&A session and the traditional, take away coffee and Krispy Kreme’s!

A huge thank you goes to our conference sponsors, SSA, Intrinsys, Granta Design, NAFEMS, Synopsys, Beta CAE, Rescale and EDEM without whom our conferences would not be the same!

And finally, a huge thank you goes to you, our attendees! We hope you enjoyed the conference as much as we do and we really hope to see you again at an event in the near future.

Many thanks
